Mukesh & Sharda – Chale Jaana Zara Thaharo – Around The World [1967]

February 28, 2010  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: brahmin handbags

“Around The World” [1967] is an Indian Hindi film directed by Pachhi. Starring Raj Kapoor, Rajshree, Ameeta, Pran, Mehmood, Prem Chopra, Om Prakash and Achala Sachdev.
Music is by Shankar Jaikishan.
Lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra…………..

Sharda was a playback singer in Hindi films in the 1960s and 70s. She won the Filmfare best Female Playback Singer award for the cabaret “Baat zara hai aapas ki” in Jahan pyar Miley (1970).

Sharda belonged to a conservative Brahmin family from Tamil Nadu and was inclined towards music from childhood. She got her first big break in Bollywood with the song “Titli udi in Suraj” (1966). She was promoted by Shankar of the Shankar-Jaikishan duo.

She sang with most of the top singers like Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Yesudas, Mukesh and Suman Kalyanpur. She lent her voice to top leading ladies of the time like Vyjayanthimala, Saira Banu, Hema Malini, Sharmila Tagore, Mumtaz, Rajashree and even Helen. She was the first Indian female singer to cut out her own pop album in India sometime in 1968. She also performed on stage on several occasions like Filmfare Awards Functions, charity shows, naval functions, and many others.

Sharda was somehow never able to reach the top bracket of singers and she blames some of the highly successful singers of the time to have deprived her of her chances by indulging in dirty politics. She also has the distinction of being a BA graduate, a qualification that Shankar tried his level best to highlight claiming that if the heroine is a college going girl, then only Sharda can sing for her as the other female singers of the time had not been to college. This remark was not well received by others and worked against Sharda. The critics also took digs at her highly South Indian accented pronunciations and nasal intonations which were very obvious. But in spite of all that she did manage to create a certain section of the music listeners as her fans and well wishers.

Shankar tried his level best to promote Sharda as the new generation Lata in the late 60s but somehow things did not really work out. Besides Shankar she also recorded songs with Usha khanna, Dattaram, Iqbal Qureshi and a few others.

She was nominated four times for the Filmfare Best Female Singer award and won it once. In the 1970s, she turned music director with films like “Mandir Masjid”, “Maila Aanchal” and also penned lyrics for some songs specially for Shanker.

Sharda conducts music lessons for children and aspiring singers. On 21 July 2007 Sharda released her Ghazal Album “Andaaz-e-Bayan Aur” compiling Mirza Ghalib’s Ghazals. The Album was released at Juhu Jagriti Mumbai at the hands of veteran Actress Shabana Azmi. Music Director Khayyam was also present at the event where Sharda thrilled the audiences by singing a few songs from the album in her well preserved voice.

Filmfare Awards Nominations and Award;

* 1968 – Tumhari bhi jai jai-(Diwana) – nominated
* 1969 – Mere ang ka rang -(Chanda Aur Bijli) – nominated
* 1970 – Baat zara hai-(Jahan pyar miley) – won
* 1971 – Aapke piche pad gayi-(Ek nari ek brahmchari) – nominated…………..

Mukesh Chand Mathur (Hindi: मुकेश चन्द माथुर) (22 July 1923 27 August 1976) was an Indian playback singer of Bollywood. Along with Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, he dominated Indian film playback music from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Mukesh’s voice was noticed by Motilal (a popular actor in Hindi films, also a distant relative of Mukesh) when he sang at his sister’s wedding. Motilal took him to Bombay, let him stay with him and even arranged for singing lessons by pandit jagannath prasad for him. During this period, Mukesh managed to bag a role in a Hindi film, Nirdosh (Innocent) (1941). His first song was dil hi bujha hua ho to as an actor singer for Nirdosh. He got his break as a playback singer for Actor Motilal himself in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar’music by Anil Biswas & Lyrics by Aah Sitapuri’ (First Look). The first song he sang for a Hindi film was Dil Jalta Hai to Jalne De (If the heart burns, let it burn), which was incidentally picturised on Motilal.

Mukesh died of a heart attack on 27 August 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where he had gone for a concert. His body was carried back to India by Lata Mangeshkar, where a grand funeral ceremony took place as many famous actors, personalities of the Indian film industry, and fans paid tribute to the late singer. When the news of his death reached Raj Kapoor, he remarked, “I have lost my voice,” which is a testimony to the timeless and unforgettable association of Mukesh’s voice (in playback) to the immensely popular songs of Raj Kapoor’s films.

Need help finding school uniform shoes!?

February 28, 2010  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: Brown Women's Shoes

I go to a Catholic high school and there is a uniform. It’s a green polo shirt with khaki pants that we have to buy from a certain store b/c they both have the school logo on them (sucks, i know).

The uniform requires shoes that are either all dark brown or all black. I want to get brown ones so i don’t have to buy a new belt, since mine is dark brown. The shoes have to be completely leather (or fake leather) and they must have laces. The entire shoe must be the same color throughout, any designs or stripes or whatever must also be dark brown.

An example of an approved shoe (almost everyone wears these b/c they’re so comfortable) would be the Sperry Women’s Authentic 2-Eye Boat Shoe in the Sahara color (seen here: http://www.sperrytopsider.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=905&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=905&pageSuffix=Recently%20Viewed%20Item ).

These are a bit above my price range. Any ideas where they sell them cheaper, or knock-off versions? Any other shoe ideas would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Meg =D
Almond, those would be great, but the shoes have to have laces. Thank you so much for trying though!

**MUST have laces**

Payless has a great cheaper Sperry’s version in brown.

http://www.payless.com/store/product/detail.jsp?skuId=067446090&productId=64378&subCatId=&catId=cat10376&lotId=067446&catdisplayName=Brands+

Jcpenney also has a sperry style shoe and an oxford style shoe that are both 25 to 30 dollars less than Sperry’s

the brown sperry style shoe with laces

The brown oxford style shoe with laces
http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=53462&CatID=53462&Grptyp=PRD&ItemId=1677ad3&cmRef=http://www.jcpenney.com/products/C60621.jsp

These should be what your looking for and the right price.

I need help finding an oversized, inexpensive handbag online?

February 28, 2010  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: oversized handbags

Send me links to specific handbags, any brand and from any site. Here are some specifications:
-The bigger the better!
-Under $100.00
-Quality
-Real leather is a plus
-Any color
-Interesting (whether is be the construction of the bag, color, design, etc.)
-Not shiney or with a geometic pattern.

Let me know what you come up with! 10 points to the best answer! Thanks! :)
BTW, I really don’t like the cloth bags with prints on them, like screen t’s but bags. Just not a fan.

Cult.co.uk – Pauls boutique bags
Topshop.com – High fashion reasonably cheap bags.
