Geez you reckon …
I mean the original was sung by Chris Farlowe, someone has already put who wrote it- Mike D’dabo a few comments down. Farlowe’s will probably alway be my favorite as it was probably the first of the great English soul songs I heard from the 60′s, even though I didn’t hear it ’till the 80′s.
Geez you reckon this version by the Stereo’s makes you feel old being 9 years ago. The original by Chris Farlowe came out the year I was born in 67.
@TheNonsmokingaRea …
@TheNonsmokingaRea Stewart did a version, but Chris Farlowe, a great English soul singer, did the original in 67-forgotten the name of the bloke who wrote it though- something like Abduo(?) was his name i think. the Phonics do it wonderfully well though imo and of course it made the perfect theme song for the English Office -original and the best one by Ricky Gervais.

@TheNonsmokingaRea …
@TheNonsmokingaRea it is not. The song belongs to Mike d’Abo, lead singer of Manfred Mann. Version of Rods’ was arranged by d’Abo himself (he also played the piano), but Rod Stewart didn’t write it.
Well, this is good. …
Well, this is good. But, please, it sounds very similar to Stewart’s, and that version is from 1969…

How can anyone …
How can anyone compare Rod Stewart with Stereophonics? The man had lots of Wives and Lovers, but only 1 hit; Maggie May. The song was written by a certain Mr D, brilliantly performed by “Stars” bigger than Stewart will ever be. By the way; I aint Anti Rod Stewart; Met him once for a few hours and enjoyed his company; Hammersmith, London, 1977.)
